I came to the University of Pittsburgh after earning MAs in Rhetoric and Liberal Arts from Carnegie Mellon University and St. John’s College, respectively. At Pitt, my primary areas of focus were ancient philosophy, Classical myth, and Greek tragedy. In March 2019, I defended my dissertation, “Myth and Argument in Plato’s Phaedo,” which argues that the Phaedo myth makes an argument about the nature of the afterlife, and contributes to the overall argumentative structure of the dialogue by demonstrating a shift from a higher to a lower hypothesis. My current projects are preparing this dissertation for submission as a manuscript and continuing to teach Latin at The Ellis School here in Pittsburgh.
